Drugs worth more than one and a half million rand seized during festive season operations in Kimberley

NORTHERN CAPE – The Frances Baard Cluster SAPS Rapid Response Task Team followed up on information and made a huge blow in the Kimberley drug trade. On Tuesday, 7 January 2020 at about 22:00 the team raided a house and car in Herlear, Kimberley and arrested a 30-year-old male for possession of drugs.

Police confiscated 2.4 kg of Khat and 500g of Tik with an approximate street value of R1.7 Million Rands. The police also confiscated the motor vehicle in question, as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime.

“The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lt Gen Risimati Shivuri lauds the members their professional response and thanked the community for their assistance in this regard. Together we can turn the tide against crime. We will continue to squeeze the space for criminals to operate, said Shivuri.”
