Man nabbed with hijacked vehicle due in court

DURBAN – The alertness of Durban Central K9 police officers led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man who was found with a hijacked vehicle at Durban Central on 4 February 2020.
On Tuesday, 4 of February 2020 at 21:30, the police officer was at Umbilo when he received information of a hijacked vehicle driving towards the Durban CBD. The information led the police officer to a flat at Joseph Nduli Street where a Mercedes Benz was found with the driver inside.

Upon searching the suspect, he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. Preliminary investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Sydenham on 3 February 2020. He was placed under arrest for possession of a hijacked vehicle. He will be appearing at the Durban Magistrates Court today.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the police officer for being vigilant and for acting swiftly when the intelligence was received.
