Police warn about fraudsters trying to buy cattle advertised on social media.

Chris Hani Commercial Crimes Unit is investigating a number of fraud cases that have recently been opened after unsuspecting buyers were scammed while trying to buy cattle advertised on social media.

According to the information from the complainants, there was a fraudulent Facebook page that advertised livestock sale happening in the farms around Queenstown.

Many community members even outside Chris Hani District responded and ended up as victims after they deposited money into the scam bank account but never received the stock.

Police appeal to the public to be careful of similar scams in real life or advertised through social media specifically around this time. The cost price of buying from these scammers is always too good to be true. That should be one way of raising alarm.

Police encourage buyers to double-check for authenticity before committing further or deposit money. Anyone who has been a victim is encouraged to report the matter to Queenstown police or the Investigation detective Warrant Officer Mariette Olivier at 0796005207.
