Copper thief behind bars in Northern Cape

The Northern Cape Provincial SAPS Management condemned the damage and theft of essential infrastructure, which continues to cripple the economy of the country.

The stern warning emanates from the arrest of a 47-year-old, subsequent to be found in possession of stolen copper cables at his house in Galeshewe. The suspect was arrested on Friday, 22 January 2021. His arrest was executed after the Frances Task Team operationalised Crime Intelligence information.

Copper weighing 97Kg, to the value of R10 000-00, was found hidden in the backyard of the suspect during the search.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 January 2021.
