OneSpark fights for equal opportunity this women’s month
Lack of access to menstrual health management continues to be a barrier to success for many young South African girls. The reality, is that many young South African women do not have access to basic female hygiene which prevents them from being able to attend school and achieve their full potential. In South Africa, it is estimated that about 3.7 million girls are unable to afford sanitary pads, with an estimated 30% of learners missing school because they are on their periods; a frightening statistic for a country with an already battered education system post-covid*.
Creating equal opportunities for all, is one of the reasons OneSpark, a globally backed InsurTech start-up that’s shaking up the insurance industry, was founded by Josh Kaplan & Greg Smith.
To do their part this women’s month OneSpark has donated over R10 000 worth of sanitary pads to Mama Flo SA, an NPO who is doing unbelievable work to help fight period poverty and empower young women to be the best versions of themselves. Mama Flo provides short and long term sustainable solutions to fighting Period Poverty in Johannesburg & Cape Town.
