Illegally acquired cables from Transnet and PRASA uncovered at a foundry in Primrose

The Gauteng Traffic Police together with the Crime Prevention Wardens discovered copper cables that were suspected to be stolen while conducting compliance checks at a foundry in Primrose, Germiston.

Transnet and Prasa identified 540 kg and 290 kg of contact and catenary wire that belonged to them. They disclosed that the cables were not obtained legally by the company.

A 23-Year-old male suspect, who identified himself as the manager in charge of the operation has been detained at the Primrose SAPS and will appear at the Germiston Magistrate Court with charges of being in possession of suspected stolen copper.
