Cable theft suspect arrested outside Camden power station

Joining forces against crime is indeed yielding positive results. General Botha Regiment is currently deployed on Operation PROSPER under Joint Tactical Headquarters Mpumalanga at various Eskom Power stations from 16 December 2022 till the present date.

General Botha Regiment members currently deployed at Duhva and Camden power stations have been hard at work in recovering, confiscating and apprehending cable theft suspects. While the members were busy conducting foot patrols at Duvha power station, they recovered a 70 metres long 3-phase electric cable lying around on the ground next to the water treatment plant.

At Camden power station the Eskom security officials called for reinforcement from General Botha Regiment members deployed at that Area of Responsibility to assist with suspects who were seen on the CCTV screen trespassing into the premises. The SA National Defence Force soldiers searched the premises and managed to find and apprehend a suspect who is a Zimbabwean National with a cable that was about 34 Metres long. The suspect is detained at the Ermelo police station for Cable theft.
