Historic Farm ” Goedeverwachting” in Paarl under threat by raging fire
DFW commander received a request for inmediate assistance by the property owner of Goedeverwachting farm at the Sonstraal road inPaarl.
A fire, which started in a riverbed quickly spread to the historic farm and the fear was for both the labour cottages as well as the main dwelling to be damaged or worse, consumed by the fire.
The Farmer is a dedicated member of the private DFW Fire responder group, hence a full response of all available resources was initiated.
Within minutes 3 DFW tanker/ pumpers and 2 DFW cruisers were on their way, to be welcomed by metershigh flames and a wall of fire and smoke.
The main DFW pumper/ tanker protected the historic main house, while the rest of the crew cut off the path of the fire.
With great success, the fire was suppressed and no property lost.
The fast response and with enough water ” fire” power ( 18.000 litre) carried by the 3 DFW 4×4 tankers and the maneuverability of the DFW 4×4 cruisers to reach the far away corners, was spot on and saved the day.
The DFW is a non profit entity fully capable and well equipped with a fleet of trucks and cruisers, set up to assist, stand in or when needed replace the authorities when they have their hands full elsewhere.
The fire season of 2023/24 has never ever started with so many destructive fires and both the private DFW as well as the authorities, have their hands full ongoing.
It pays of to be a DFW private client as they will always be prioritized.
