The EMPD recovered two reported hijacked vehicles in Tsakane
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Community Liaison Unit (CLU), Eastern Region Task Team and the Kwa-Thema precinct Officers, recovered the reported hijacked white Mercedes Benz and the white Toyota Yaris, at the same location near Pholosong Region Hospital, in the Tsakane area.
An information, came through the crime prevention WhatsApp group, regarding a hijacked motor vehicle, making its way to the Tsakane area.
EMPD officers immediately conducted an intelligence driven operation, to locate the wanted Mercedes. Not long, the vehicle matching the description given, was spotted, parked outside the Pholosong Regional Hospital parking bay.
The abandoned Mercedes Benz was tactically approached and thoroughly searched. Meanwhile, just five meters away, Officers spotted a suspicious white Toyota Yaris, with four male occupants. As Officers advanced towards the Toyota, all four jumped out while firing shots at Officers and disappeared on thin air, leaving the vehicle behind. No one was reported injured, following that ordeal.
Inside the Toyota Yaris, Officers uncovered two cellphones and the jammer. All role players, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) personnel, were summoned to the scene, for further investigations. Both uncovered vehicles, were towed to the Tsakane police station and arrests, are imminent.
