Storeroom area of Shoprite Thaba Nchu gutted by Fire

Thaba Nchu fire update: Damage running into millions of Rands was caused when a fire gutted the storeroom area of Shoprite Thaba Nchu yesterday afternoon. The fire started at around midday. Acting quickly, firefighters managed to contain the fire to the storeroom, however the rest of the shop suffered extensive smoke, water and structural damage.

Backup crews were called in from Botshabelo and Bloemfontein to assist at the scene. At around 22:00 last night, the fire was mostly extinguished and damping down operations are expected to continue well into today. No injuries were reported on scene.
