Robbery at a retail store in Verulam

Ackermans in the Verulam CBD – KZN was robbed by three suspects who made off with several cellphones and cash this morning (Sunday).

The gunmen entered the store, and held up staff and patrons including children. The victims were forced into the storeroom. The robbers stole several cellphones from the store which were loaded into three (3) bags. One of the men asked a female employee to remove her company-branded jacket which he used when he exited the business. The stolen goods were loaded into a champagne Toyota Corolla with registration NJ 81824.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 10:44. Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the gunmen however no arrests were made.

No injuries were reported.
