Housebreaking suspect arrested in Effingham

A man has been arrested following a housebreaking in Effingham earlier today.

Marshall Security were alerted to a house breaking in progress in Mogul Crescent at approximately 15:00. Armed reaction officers were immediately dispatched.

Whilst on route, one of the officers noticed a man walking on a nearby road with an extension cord in his hand. Whilst additional units arrived at the premises, the proactive officer stopped to question the man who could not explain where he had obtained the cord from.

A photo was sent to officers at the scene and a positive identity was made on the property as having been taken in the house breaking.

The suspect forced entry into the property by forcing open a glass sliding door before making off on foot with the stolen property.

The suspect was arrested on site and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
