Roodepan SAPS creates awareness around cable theft
NORTHERN CAPE – The Designated Second Hand Dealer officer at Roodepan SAPS, W/O Viola Nkomombini accompanied by Crime Prevention members embarked on an awareness campaign this morning, 25 February 2020.
The main focus of the campaign was to educate and inform the community about ferrous and non- ferrous metals as well as crimes such as cable theft and the impact it has on the infrastructure.
Members distributed pamphlets at the Eagle Street and Midlands intersection in Roodepan. The area around the police station has also been recently targeted by cable thieves, hence the campaign in the area.
The community are urged to reject and report stolen goods and be responsible and not purchase stolen goods as it is a crime.
